Abstract

Contemporary Islamic education has emerged as a response to the rapid development of science, technology, globalization, and social transformation that significantly influence educational systems. These changes have created various challenges, including moral degradation, the dichotomy of knowledge, limited digital literacy, and the demand for twenty-first-century competencies that Islamic educational institutions must address. This study aims to analyze the theories, concepts, scope, and challenges of contemporary Islamic education in the digital era. The study employed a qualitative approach using library research. Data were collected from scholarly books, national and international journal articles, and relevant academic documents concerning contemporary Islamic education. Data were analyzed using content analysis through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that contemporary Islamic education is founded on the integration of revelation and reason based on the principle of tawhid as its educational worldview. The concept emphasizes the development of insan kamil through balanced spiritual, intellectual, emotional, social, and moral dimensions. The scope of contemporary Islamic education includes educational objectives, curriculum, learning methods, educators and learners, educational environments, and evaluation systems that operate in an integrated manner. Furthermore, Islamic education currently faces challenges related to globalization, digital transformation, moral crises, the dichotomy of knowledge, and the increasing demand for adaptive educators. This study contributes conceptually to the development of a more integrative, adaptive, and relevant model of Islamic education while maintaining the fundamental values of Islamic teachings.

Abstrak

Pendidikan Islam kontemporer merupakan respons terhadap berbagai perubahan yang terjadi akibat perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan, teknologi, globalisasi, dan transformasi sosial yang memengaruhi sistem pendidikan. Perubahan tersebut menghadirkan tantangan baru berupa krisis moral, dikotomi ilmu pengetahuan, rendahnya literasi digital, serta tuntutan penguasaan kompetensi abad ke-21 yang harus direspons secara tepat oleh lembaga pendidikan Islam. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis teori, konsep, ruang lingkup, serta tantangan pendidikan Islam kontemporer dalam menghadapi era digital. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan jenis penelitian kepustakaan (library research). Data diperoleh melalui telaah berbagai buku ilmiah, artikel jurnal nasional maupun internasional, serta dokumen akademik yang relevan dengan pendidikan Islam kontemporer. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan teknik analisis isi (content analysis) melalui proses reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan secara sistematis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pendidikan Islam kontemporer dibangun atas paradigma integrasi antara wahyu dan akal yang berlandaskan nilai tauhid sebagai fondasi utama pendidikan. Konsep pendidikan Islam kontemporer berorientasi pada pembentukan insan kamil melalui pengembangan aspek spiritual, intelektual, emosional, sosial, dan moral secara seimbang. Ruang lingkup pendidikan Islam meliputi tujuan pendidikan, kurikulum, metode pembelajaran, pendidik dan peserta didik, lingkungan pendidikan, serta sistem evaluasi yang saling terintegrasi. Di sisi lain, pendidikan Islam menghadapi berbagai tantangan berupa globalisasi, perkembangan teknologi digital, krisis karakter, dikotomi ilmu, serta meningkatnya kebutuhan terhadap kompetensi pendidik yang adaptif. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi konseptual mengenai arah pengembangan pendidikan Islam yang lebih integratif, adaptif, dan relevan dengan dinamika masyarakat modern tanpa meninggalkan nilai-nilai fundamental ajaran Islam.
